Muffie Loves Bonnie Books !  Rare Keystone Doll Furniture set made in 1956, complete in box with extra Keystone vanity bench .

The set pictured sold for $12.98 back then!

The company competed with Strombecker and the attention to detail is superb. Even the front bedposts have little medallions. The swivel vanity has a mirror that has discolored over time. There are metal bars inside the vanity that let you open the vanity skirt! The corner black chair is gold stenciled and very rare. It came in both maple or ebony as you see here. The wardrobe is deep wedegwood blue with lovely gold Chinese type stenciling.

Here is how the company describes the set:

Set contains: 1. A bed which the company describes as "Beautiful natural four poster with turned legs , ball feet, fluted foot rail and brass rail bolts. Equipped with box for spring, dust ruffles, loose padded mattress, boxed spread and pillow out of hand blocked high quality cloth in colonial design".  2. A chest, "charming natural pine 3 drawer chest with ball feet, brass drawer handles and plates. All corners and edges molded in beautiful Colonial designs, a perfect miniature".  3. Wardrobe, "Lovely Williamsburg blue two door wardrobe with Oriental gilt design and fitted with a sliding clothes rack."  4. Chair, "unusual corner chair with ball feet finished in black and gilt seat patter in typical Colonial occasional chair style . Half circle back rest to support the doll in sitting position".  5. Vanity, "a practical vanity with tilting Mirror in maple. Fitted with colored sheet plastic top and ruffled shirt to match the bedspread. Skirts swing open in front to accept doll in sitting position."

My Mother had similar taste and this reminds me of her bedroom back in the 50's! She never changed it either!! To see the original box to this set, just CLICK the Muffie Keystone Plate below!
