Muffie always celebrates her birthday
with a tea party at Grammy's house.
She relaxes in Grammy's rocker and tries
her hand at Grammy's embroidery!
Petsy the bear with party hat is napping!
You are invited to tea!
Petsy helped Muffie sort through her collection
of special birthday cards shown on this page!
You can see he worked hard!
No wonder he is napping!
Muffie celebrates her birthday at Grammy's drop leaf table!
There is a wrapped present from Gram and Gramps!
Lots of goodies, too!
Grammy uses her Occupied Japan tea set
for this special occasion! (Thanks, Maggie)
Grammy's dining room always smells
like a delicious French bakery.
Below is a close-up of the pastries
Grammy and Muffie made today!
Muffie is holding a painting that Sandi sent!
It reminds her of a Grandma Moses!
Grammy lights the red lantern to save on electricity.
Muffie prefers the softer light, too!
You can see Grammy Stella has lots of wonderful furniture
in Pennsylvania Dutch design.
She made some wonderful crimson velvet pillows
and pads to add color and flare!
These 50's furniture pieces are all hand painted
( with the exception of the new "bench"
and piano that really plays !)
The vintage pieces are special to Grammy
and one day they will be passed down to Muffie!
Muffie must be careful not to scratch the chairs
with her Mary Jane shoe buckles!
And speaking of Mary Jane!
Here is Muffie's favorite paper doll,
Magic Mary Jane!
Muffie dreams about wearing dresses with smocking .
A Polly Flinders dress is a treat and a treasure!
But Grammy's clothes are glamorous !
She sent Muffie this card because playing dress-up
is Muffie's favorite pastime.
Muffie always wears costume jewelry! too!
And hats! Grammy found this card, too!
Kitty wants to join the tea party!
She has been guarding the cake!
Muffie gets birthday wishes from Sandi in Oregon,
Marie in England , and Linda in Arizona.
Grammy's phone is a candlestick style!
So Muffie holds the earpiece carefully!
(The telephone table is hard to find
and this piece still has the original phone
that Muffie is holding.)
The furniture pieces shown here with apple designs
are most often found with Madame Alexander dolls.
I have a mix of two different sets.
A chair or bench may have a pear or flowers, etc.
on the upper back pieces.
They all blend well and the main difference
seems to be in the type of paint used.
The apple pieces are less glossy
but do have a slight shine. )
(As an aside, Muffie did have a set of her own
black furniture made by Sollmann and Whitcomb.
There are no hand painted florals on Muffie furniture
but the style of the pieces made are
very similar in style and scale.
They are painted with gold trim.
Thank you, Gini and Lillian for all your Muffie info!
Muffie just looks great with furniture of this period!)
Muffie and Grammy save the perfect card for
Linda ...to be sent when she is all better!
"It's me, your favorite mouse-ke-teer!"
The spinning wheel is wood and metal
and really turns.
(Kitty spies the yarn)
In Muffie's mind she is spinning straw into gold
and, "Rumplestilskin" is his name!"
Muffie hopes to play as well as Grampy one day!
Grampy is so funny.
He calls Muffie "Moosekie" instead of Muffie!
Grampy's puppy snoozes.
( The "bench" is a box I converted for this picture.
The velvet pad fit perfectly.)
Muffie proudly displays her cross stitching
which says "Just Married! "
It is just like Grammy's!
Muffie wears her mustard seed necklace for good luck.
A gift from Ginny Linda.
The doll in the black cradle is awake!
So is this little one below!
A Grammy card! (You knew that!)
At the end of the party Muffie opens her present!
DOMINOES!
It is time for Grampy and Muffie to play this new game!
Muffie does not understand this game at all!
(She just loves making a train and watching them fall!)
Thanks for stopping by to share tea!
