PLW 1954 Ginny decorated this bistro set for Mom's baby shower!
Guests can chat and open gifts under the umbrella!
You are cordially invited to attend!
Ginny will scrapbook all of the baby's shower cards!
Mom is pretty sure the baby will be a girl!
If so, Ginny's sister will be called Ginnette!
This Watko 50's bistro set with this particular
umbrella is extremely rare .
The umbrella post is metal rather than wood
as you may have seen in my Watko beach scenes.
The umbrella fabric is very fragile
and mine has a small tear in one section.
I re-papered the wooden top of the umbrella
leaving the worn original red paper underneath.
The all original table and chairs are
excellent plus! I was lucky!
The set is thought to have been
made for Madame Alexander dolls .
( Jean Mahan states that the set
is too rare to set a value for).
This set came to me with another set of
exc-near mint red and white striped Watko beach furniture:
lounge chair, angled chair, and straight chair.
(I also have another bistro table set like
the one pictured above and it is shown
with my blue Watko bedroom set.
But with that set the rare HTF umbrella is missing.
Maybe I will find it one day! )
Ginny's vintage plastic lambs are all hard to find as well.
Two are still with their original boxes
and all lambs shown were made by Irwin.
The pink lamb is a rattle . (Thanks, Dee!)
Ginny has several shower gifts for the new baby
(wooden maze, jack-in the box)
and will wrap them later!

Ginny samples the shower cake and is taken aback when her lamb jumps over the fence!
This Leaping Lamb toy must have inspired the term, "Counting sheep!" CLICK to see 3 close-ups from the umbrella scene! 2A |
Ginny sets up tea inside for
Mother's guests.
She places her wrapped baby gifts under the table. Can you tell she is wishing for a sister? I bought this 50's super Watko table and chair set MIB . It was designed by Belle Kogan. The set is wrought iron and the aqua chairs are speckled! |
Ginny sneaks a Pepsi. The guests said, "ooh" and "ahh
"
when they saw her pretty table setting. Mother gave Ginny Sparkle Plenty paper dolls for being such a great helper. The coffee/ tea set is vintage 50's and I purchased it with the table set. |
Ginny volunteers to clean-up afterwards. There was a good deal of wrapping paper left behind. Ginny's supplies are My Merry and parts of a German cleaning set. The cover to the German box is beside Ginny. The picture cover graphic stole my heart! And the pails were perfect with the My Merry Dutch cleanser. The German metal metal pieces are lithographed with children. The wooden brooms all came with the German set which had most of the original pieces. |
|
Mother's 50's Watko bed is minty! Ginny will be very careful with it. |
Ginny moves the 50's Watko chairs next to the aqua couch that was also designed by Belle Kogan. Mother has a good eye! The pieces coordinate! Ginny has an Oreo filled cookie jar, a gift from Dale! |
The Watko aqua couch folds out so Ginny can eat, play or sleep. She accomplished a lot today! Time to relax!! Apparently her lamb likes Oreos, too! CLICK to see more close-ups of the Watko and German pieces! 2B |
PS (Ginny got her wish! Mom had a girl
and Ginny snapped this shot of her new sister, Ginnette!)
Yes, she used a Brownie camera!Kitty likes the pic!
