Mimi shares her favorite memories about Madame Alexander,

Madame would stop

by often during those first few years and I was filled with such

excitement at the mention of her up coming visits.

She was like a "princess" to me, always dressed so beautifully and

always so gentle and kind to my sister Sue and me.

She would always bring us DOLLS every time she saw us

(Sue was not ‘into dolls’ so I always got hers...

talk about dreams coming true!!!)

We received every doll she made from 1954 to 1958

and I PLAYED W/ALL OF THEM!

Thank goodness my Mom thought

to put some of them away for me along with two complete

sets of furniture. I have many precious ‘kins’,

Cissy's and Cissettes in original boxes

(won't part w/those...you can understand why...

so much love and many fond memories).

We were given doll trunks filled w/clothes

 & accessories for each doll.

These treasures we were given to us as cherished gifts,

and I can't begin to tell you what an impact

Madame had on my life as a child.”

“At one point she mentioned to my Dad

that I was such a ‘beautiful’ little girl

and she wanted to make a doll (8")

that resembled me and my smile....

it turned out to be "Maggie Mix Up" in 1960!

I was given several and couldn't believe

she did that for me; she changed only the hair color

 as mine was brown.

See the photo below of my Sister Sue and I

about the time we met Madame.”

(I found a Maggie Mix-up photo. Her smile still resembles Mimi’s!)

“There are many times when my Dad

would take me with him

down to the MA Doll Co. (at a different location then)

if he needed to see Madame,

and it was such a magical experience....

I got to see how the dolls were made,

the clothes made, including the hats,

and she always gave me whatever doll(s)

I wanted before I left to go back home.

I also remember being in her home in Scarsdale, NY

at one point  (don't remember my age)

and was in such awe because her living room

 was pink w/white accents...

I even remember her white poodle

who had a rhinestone dog collar on,

as he was jumping all over me.

We sat and had tea with my parents...

it was such a beautiful house."
